Herein lies an understated underated modern band of heros. I have seen Stellastarr* live once. It was at Kings College London Student Union in about Febuary 2006. It was almost without a doubt the best gig I have ever been to for many reasons but mainly for the intensely joyful atmosphere created by the band and by the crowd. I’ve not had as much fun in a mosh pit since my favourite rock club “Burn” in Durban, South Africa when I got knocked flying backwards and landed on my hands, cutting my left hand on a fragment of beer bottle! The Stellastarr* mosh pit was less painful but just as energetic.
One of the highlights was when the lead singer, Shawn Christensen, jumped into the crowd for one of the songs. If you ever have the chance to see Stellastar* perform, do it. And try to make it in a small venue in the UK. You will not witness a better gig.
You should go out and buy their first album. Moongirl is awesome, as is pretty much every single track on the disc. And here is a link to their own website: Stellastar*.
